EXPERIENCE
Imam Daayiee, meets his clients face-to-face, via telephone or online videoconferencing. He offers an array of religious, matrimonial, divorce and grief counseling services for Muslims of all backgrounds and cultures.
Locating an Imam that supports gender equality, inter-faith
marriages, and GLBTQ rights is very difficult, if not impossible in one's
locale. Imam Daayiee helps close the distance gap, making access
easier and based upon the client's schedule.
Imam Daayiee uses his Western and Islamic law (Shari’ah) and Quranic
interpretation training and experience to provide Quran-focused spiritual guidance for Muslims living in the West.
Progressive Islamic Humanism, based on the premise that Quran recognizes that all human beings have the breath of God, and
all Muslims must respect each human being. Progressives also respect
the secular tenets of the UN Declaration of Human Rights, and maintains
that all members of the book should honor each person's inalienable
human rights and fully respect a person's bodily integrity.
Imam Daayiee has played
an important role in the development of gay Muslim human rights. As a
spiritual counselor for Al-Fatiha Foundation, a North American- based
organization for GLBTQ Muslims, he has provided counseling for GLBTQ Muslims, their families and allies since 2000. Imam Daayiee has also provided spiritual counseling for Imaan in the United Kingdom, and Skeiv Verden (Gay World) in Norway.
