Imam Daayiee has played
an important role in the development of gay Muslim human rights. Imam Daayiee
is a long-term members of Al-Fatiha Foundation, a North American-based
organization for GLBTQ Muslims, joining the organization since early 1999. Imam Daayiee has also played an important role in the development of Muslims for Progressive Values, both domestically and internationally, and currently co-facilitates MPV's Washington, DC Chapter and their associated inclusive masjid, Light of Reform Mosque also located in Washington, DC.
Imam Daayiee, as Moderator of Muslim Gay Men, at www.muslimgaymen@yahoogroups.com, a list serve for gay Muslim men, has spent the past ten years leading and moderating theological discussions on sexual orientation, Quran, Sunnah, Ahadith, Shari'ah and Fiqh, as well as secular human rights.
When it comes to lecturing and speaking engagements, Imam Daayiee
discuss the vast array of personal experiences from his speaking engagements on Islamic law (Shari’ah) and Quranic
interpretation, the Progressive Muslim Movement, Muslim Womens' Rights, Muslim Interfaith and Same Sex Marriages, and Human Rights activism, and offers a balanced engagement with audiences of all backgrounds.
