An-Nural Isslaah

     Masjid An-Nural Isslaah is a progressive Muslim prayer center in Washington, DC. We are associated with El-Tawhid Jum'ah Prayer Circle, and we provide sacred prayer space that is inclusive in Quranic philosophy, gender equal in practice, queer friendly in acceptance, intrafaith welcoming and interfaith involved.

Masjid An-Nural Isslaah was established to nurture vibrant progressive Muslim communities by creating the religious center for the purposes of religious prayer services, intellectual discourse on Quran and Sunnah, as well as other texts. Members also volunteer for prayer services by participating in the various aspects of the prayer service, thus bringing the community into the act of worship.

      The Masjid also participates in Islamic intrafaith community activities, and by partnering with both Muslim and non-Muslim progressive organizations, develop cultural events bringing members, visitors and interested parties to understand and enjoy Islam, both religiously and culturally.

       Masjid An-Nural Isslaah promotes theologically-sound frameworks for Islamic liberalism. We reinvigorate the Islamic tradition of ijtihad (critical engagement and interpretation of sacred texts) and intellectual discourse. We do this by collaborating with religious scholars on theological issues that are accessible to a wide audience.

        It is through the diversity of activities, each of which further clarifies Quranic teachings, our members and visitors learn from the interconnectivity and exchange of ideas.
